Check speedo wiring under pod where it ties to main harness. Had a 500 last week had same symptoms, ended up being wiring zip tied too tight, causing intermitent short to speedo.

Moisture could be the problem then! Some poster have used hair dryers to remove moisture, some others have torn into their speedos! Should get more suggestions from other members! When I said "under pod" means take the 3 screws out on upper platic piece where speedo is,will separate from bottom "lower pod". Good luck hope you can solve your problem without a new speedo!

Default SPEEDO AND AWD DOES NOT WORK

Thanks for everyone's help. I took the speedo off and apart. there was some moisture and corrosion biuldup on the circut board. I removed the corosion with some scotchgaurd and used a blowdryer to dry everything off. I put it all back together and everything lit up and worked properly. saved me $300 for a new speedo.
THANKS AGAIN
