Good idea with the seat belt. Please tell me more about it.
How old is your passenger?
Does it work well?
I have a four year old boy, sitting him in front of me, makes me nervous, the heat shield melts his shoes.

She is 4 1/2. I had the same problem with her in front, her feet got real hot.
I used a pair of soft ties looped through the rails (one on either side) with a 24" caribiner end bungee in between. I have a split foam tube (pool noodle) around it as a cushion. The bungee gives it a little elasticity for comfort. It gives her enough support for the very mild riding I do with her aboard.

I understand the concerns about the "seatbelt." I only do very mild riding with her aboard. I don't count on the seatbelt to keep her on the quad, only to give her something to hold onto without having to reach too far. She can be pulled out with the "seatbelt" "on" in an emergency. In the event that we went over (as stated earlier, sh*t happens) this configuration will not trap her with the quad.
Thanks again for the comments, I know they are offered in the interests of safety and I appreciate your concern for me and my family.

Welcome to the forum -
I also have one of the harnesses that secures my child to me vice the quad, however, I don't use it often. I bought the X2 vice the touring as the box on the X2 seems to provide a little more protection from sliding off the seat for my six year old. I would rather reduce my speed to ensure he stays on then the seatbelt him in.

Welcome to the forums. Nice ride. I wish they had the 700cc when I bought mine but it didn't come that way then. <div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>'08 Sportsman X2 500EFI - Red/Black, Polaris 3500 Winch, Front Brushguard and Rack Extender, Dual Cargo Bags, Passenger Floorboard Risers, Front Spring Coil Spacers, Moose Rm3 Plow (60").</end quote></div> That's funny. Question though... Was the wife born in 1970 or did you marry her then? There is a big difference...

Thanks. I've only had the Terracross tires for a short time. To be honest, I haven't made up my mind completely, but I think I will like them. We're gonna try to get out this weekend for a couple days.
