Default ATV GPS

I am part of a search and rescue ATV team (Ya, I get paid to ride! ... lol)

Anyways, I am looking for a GPS to start to mark the trails that we find. I want it to be able to remember the trails for future use, as well as breadcrumb the ones we are on.

I want the gps to be able to be downloaded/uploaded to other gps's/computers. Hopefully onto a google like map.

I would like it to be affordable for other members of the unit to buy the same thing.

Any suggestions?

How many breadcrumb trails can you save?

Breadcrumb trails would be fine, can you convert the breadcrumb trails onto a map software to see them on a computer?

I think garmin is the best but I'm not up on the latest models. You can get a handlebar mount for nearly anything from RAM Mounts.

I have an OLD Garmin GPS 12 and like the way the RAM mount fits it. It just snaps in. There's a big hole in the back for the power cable to go through and plug into the ATV. My old generic mount was an inch wider, an inch thicker, taller, and clunckier than a 2x6, instead of streamlined like that. It didn't have a hole to put the cord tthrough either. RAM rawks! I like to adjust the mount so my GPS is hovering just above the pod (no contact) next to the speedo. You can adjust it about 3" in any direction.

I'm not sure how many trails it hold but quite a few you check the meter and when youre close to 100% you save it and start another one, you can put qiute a lot on just one, also you have 500 waypoints thatyou can mark. Not to much else I can tell like I said I love the breadcrunb trail it brings me home everytime, also you can pan map wich is great to check where you are.

I really like the Garmin 76CSx with a RAM mount. Large enough screen to view while driding. Has memory card to store different maps (Street Map, Topo, Blue Charts,) as well as to store your tracks.

The trail GPS that I got can not be used for the traditional turn by turn direction on highways. It seems to me, that you can either down load a trail map, a highway map or a water map. The three can not be combined
