Default Running low and high beam lights at the same time

I saw this light kit on ebay. It shows a picture of a wire splice and a couple of quick connects. Instead of buying the kit does anyone know how to do this? Could someone provide directions? Will this cause any over heating to run the low and high beam lights at the same time? I had heard the new XP 850 runs them both at hte same time. Here is the ebay link.

all it is is a power diode running between the high beam wire and the low beam wire.
thats one way to do it, the other way is to have a relay setup so that when the high beams come on, it flips the relay and sends power from the battery to the low beams.
either way is still cheaper than the parts on ebay. you can get everything you need from any radio shack

The 800 EFI has a 500 watt mag you'll be fine running all three lights at once.

I tried finding a diode or rectifier or anything at Radio Shack to do it myself. They didn't have anything that would work so I bought a few kits from Montana Jacks. Then I found out Quadovator has them for about half the price, shipped. I've never bought anything on ebay but some people told me they got screwed bad. You pay your money and take your chances.

Anything like a 1N5901 diode should suffice.. You could find something like this in an old power supply or something...

I am going to try it. I'm not sure when, but I'll try to get some photos and document what I'm doing.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for my 2002 sportsman 500 ho? It would be handy to have the wire colors available. If not, I can probe for them.

I can't remember which is high and which is low but it should be a yellow and a green wire. You just splice the diode in and (obviously) make sure it isn't backward.

Why not just order all the pieces that someone else has already put together?

This is the kit that I got. $10, works great and KFI is a pleasure to deal with.

why spend $10 when you can spend about 30 cents on a diode?

Can you really get a 30 cent diode that will work? Where? I haven't seen any.
