Default Paint rubs (Front and Rear bumpers)

All -

I exp. this every time I seem to ride now a days
and is abit frustrating to say the least. I have a 6 1/2
by 14' ft. pull behind open cargo trailer and I use to
haul our two sportsman's quads to our ATV ride trips.

With both quads back to back and only inches apart
the bumpers rub quite often. I have used foam protectors,
card board, boat pads etc. etc. to put between them and
having to repaint so many times as touch up. Its gets a
little old. I don't think I am the only one out here that
has the same issues. The front brushguard has the saw
effect of cutting thru most things I add between the two
and straping them down tight to eliminate bounce but it still
happens.

Regards,

What are you tying down with, Rtick? I normally use 4 ratchet straps, one on each corner, and crank them down pretty tight. As far as I can tell it doesn't move at all.

Ratchet straps as well and tight too. But regardless of this issue, the paint wears off on these Brushguard
and bumpers real easy. I am tired of touching them up, what do you all do?

I would try putting some pipe insulation it, and zip tie it on, I know it may sound a little goofy, but I put it on mine if I park it near the door of my shed in case it would happen to bump into it it wouldn't do anything

The last I used is the hammered Black Rustoleum, which looks pretty good. And funny you mentioned pipe insulation
as I used that too, LOL. But the foam is too brittle and the rub of the brushguard to the back of the rear bumper
in front just slices thru. We also sprayed this rubber spray on about $11 a can and did a couple of coats. It looks good but
it didn't survive the metal rub, LOL.

Still looking for something else to do or use. I may go back to the boat pad idea but it just a matter of time before that
gets sliced on the Vinyl. This all sounds silly doesn't it? Ho humm

Regards.

ok well I think if you really wanted to fix it you could probably get them sprayed with rhino liner or Linex, I have considered that many tines myself

Try using a rubber floor mat. TSC sells some pretty thick ones. Cut the mat so that it will fit over the pipes and between the vertical brackets. Double, or triple the mat until it extends farther than the vertical racket. Do the same to both quads. That way, the vertical riser is unable to make contact with the mat and it will not saw through it.

As I read your original post I just had another idea. Get one of the large foam cushions that you see on the sides of boats. The ones they use so that the boat does not rub against the dock. Those are round but they are probably 6" in diameter. If you positioned one in the center of the bumper it should be enough to keep the two quads separated and eliminate your problem.

I was also thinking of a rubber mat or a piece of rubber backed carpet. LineX is, by far, the toughest of the liners that I've seen. Herculiner comes in a can and you can get it at an auto parts store. You roll it on. It's tons tougher than the spray on cans of rubberized stuff. I put it on my boat seats (wooden benches) and it has stayed on for over 3 years now.
