88 trailboss brakes

I just bought an 88 trailboss 250 2x4. got a nice price, $600. It needs nothing except the caliper for the rear brake is missing. I'm in the process of looking around and I think I found one on eBay (its off a 4x4 though, I hope they are the same). What I'm wondering is...Is the caliper on the shaft that comes out of the gear box the only braking system for the rear wheels? that just seems odd to me. I'm so used to seeing a caliper and disk right back on the rear axle. I was asking the guy and he said it only has the one on the side of the gear box.
The quad stops fine with just the front brakes, but I want to get it all together the way it was supposed to be.
Does anyone know if that caliper I found on eBay will fit. Its off a 88 trailboss 4x4. the caliper is missing on mine, so I can't even compare the picture. It looks like it mounts the same way. here's the link... eBay caliper
