carb prob??
#1
My 98 335 sportsman started to leak gas out of the carb bleeder tube... it would not stop even if the screw was tightened so we crimped the tube shut.. now when we tried to start it gas/ oil flowed into the air filter compartment thru two seperate hoses that are connected to the compartment??? Is this all steming from the carb dripping???

sounds like the bowl is dirty and trash got into the float/needle valve assembly or your float is out of adjustment. take your carb apart an give it a good cleaning. put it all back together EXCEPT for the bowl on the bottom of the carb. hook a fuel line back up to it and push the float up to simulate the bowl getting full. dont push on it too hard. there should be a little spring actuated tit on the needle valve. just push the float enough to push that in. turn fuel flow on and if fuel comes through that needle valve then you need to get a carb kit for it

Got it Thanks.. I could see where if the floats not turning off the flow.. it would keep going .. what are the hoses that connect to the air filter ..overflow?? it looked like oil and gas is that possible???

The needle and seat in the carb is worn out, needs replaced, you probably filled the crank case with gas also, change the oil, replace the needle and seat and start turning the gas off when not in use and it will last forever.

you mentioned oil flowing into the air box or is it just gas. make sure rthe crank vent is good and clean as well as the needle and seat in good shape and dirt free.

Where is the crank vent?? one of the lines that pours oil into the air filter box has an in-line filter on it (will be replaced becuase it has had oil pouring thru it) is that the crank case vent??
