Default hole in front differential

I'm hoping you're right. Seems funny that this would be a vent and no one has had problems yet. Cann't get a close look to see what it really is.

i dont have time right npow to check but it cant be a vent thats open w/out a tube going out as it would automaticly be getting water in it even if you went thru a 2" puddle from the spashing. imo.

Default hole in front differential

Maybe it's possble that none of Polaris' front diffs are vented? I mean they aren't your standard differential due to the demand drive. I honestly never noticed. You said you can't get in to see it well? Is it possible the "hole" is an optical illusion? Maybe a hole that is actually casted over at the bottom and serves a purpose internally? Can anyone get a picture?

EDIT-OK I went and took another look at my 850 and it does have what apears to be a vent, all the way in the front.. pretty hard to see. It is a brass NPT nipple with hose and a clamp. So there goes that theory.

Def a hole there. I made an "L" shaped probe from a coathanger and could get
1 1/4" inside.

Hawkeye has the hole also. We have to make sure we're talking about the same thing. Tomorrow I'll take a photo so we're all on the same page.

Mornin dana345
My Wife has an 08 300 and it also has the hole, and it feels like it goes deep. It has been in water and lots of dirt. So I drained the oil and it look 0k to me, Then with the drain plug out I shot air into it and couldn't feel any air commin out the drain hole, then I put that plug back in and pulled the fill plug and shot air into it, still felt no air. I don't think that opening goes into the gear case. Some one else want to try shootin air into there's and see what you think??

Hope your right hobbles, but it seems like a reasonable test. I'm happy with that but still would like to know what this "hole" is about.

Just to make sure we're all looking at the same area, here are some photo's of the hole placement. These were taken from the left front and the one marked "untitled" has a yellow arrow pointing at the area.
