Sportsman Question
#11
Thanks to all who replied. To make a long story short, the boss (wife) says to just wait until something goes wrong with the bike I have and then get an HO if I want. Otherwise it will cost me quite a bit. First, the cost of the quad, plus several meals out, plus jewelry, plus new clothes for her...it just adds up to too much. I still had a slight tingle of 'what if' that went away when I found out the last of the new '00 machines for the $5800 were sold out. However, I may still have to decide between the Sportsman and Magnum in a year or two, so many thanks for your replies.
GregSims: Yes, I have driven a 'bare' SP on trails, and I think you are right. I was worried more about sloshing than the dead weight. Hopefully, Mrs. Hydro doesn't slosh as much as a half full sprayer tank.
Countryguy, that is the kind of answer I was looking for, experience with a sprayer, thanks.
Asfastasu & ttayler, good Ideas, stiffening up the preload, and dishing the tires out. I will have to remember that.
PolarisMan, exactly. From my limited driving of the SP, it felt 'tall' and I was concerned it might be tippy. Apparently it feels more tippy than it really is.
Dieselpro, it is a 15 gallon tank. 15 gals @ 8# per gallon = 120# plus the sprayer weighs about another 30# or so to get my 150#. I thought about mounting it behind the rack on my Xplorer to make it less tippy, but there are places I hang over the front rack to climb up as it is, and don't want the weight any farther back than it has to be.
Thanks again, all. I knew I could get some good advice. Now if any of you could locate a rich uncle for me to claim...
