My buddy has a 500HO and he was helping me with some stuff this weekend. His quad got stuck in low range FWD...shifter moves fine after being unhooked but the shifters on the tranny will not move....tried rocking the beast back and forth...nothing....

Also, anyone have a manual for this machine?

01 and 02 models had problems with creeping clutches which usually resulted in "hydrolocked" shift boxes when trying to go from high to low,or reverse to low. If hard to manually move trans linkage after removing from shift box,I can recommend one harsh method I've done in the past: wooden or plastic end of a hammer against trans belcrank,AND a sharp blow on hammer head with a deadblow hammer! Sounds crude,but most time will unlock. If able to free and get trans in neutral,adjust linkage rods to where they just DROP straight into shifter arms while in neutral! If has clutch creeping as posted above,you need to address this(usually one way bearing or clutch alignment) Probably good time to service shift box also,change fluid,check for worn parts or excessive slack/movement of shift lever especially in neutral. One place to check is your local library. Mine had the Haynes manual available until I purchased my own.
