What is considered High Mileage?
#2
It depends on how well it has been maintained and how the owner(s) used it. If it hasnt been beat on or sank in water the longer it will last. Just a guess here but maybe after 2500-3000 you are getting up there on miles. just my 2 cents.

I hope your wrong a $7000 Machine that is considered up there after only 3000 Miles is pretty bad and one expensive sport. I would need a new ATV every 2-3 years at that rate.
My 2 stoke 500 Ski-doo just turned 8000 miles last year and still runs like day one and I though snowmobiles had shorter life span than a 4 stroke lower powered ATV.

Another good place to look for a pre owned ATV is craigslist. I got my 07 sportsman with only 375 miles</end quote></div>
Just be cautious,as you always should, craigslist can be great but it is also riddled with scams.
On the mileage question, it really depends on the owner...due to the widly varied useage of these machines that question is always as easy to answer as might be with an Auto. Some people can dog out a machine rather quicky while others who maintain there machines, and ride and use them conservatively can have one with several thousand miles on them and they are still in very good condition.

ALL depends on maintenance and how it was ridden. I've seen machines that where wore out at 3,000 miles, and I've seen 'em in great shape with 7,000 miles.
I agree with TLC though if the machine has been reasonably cared for 3,000 miles is not that many. After all a lot of guys will ride 500+ miles in a week while on vacation; I know a group that goes on that type of outing AT LEAST twice a year, along with their normal weekend rides,so miles add up fast.

Me and the group I ride with generally get 5-6K out of them b4 they are toast. we have a kawasaki prairie 400 with 12k ...aint much left of it although did still run reliably at 10K... We do abuse them though.(maintain well but ride hard)
