It is the vent tube for your gas tank.

if cracked does it need to be replaced, or is it ok to leave since its a vent tube?

Got you PM.

It won't cause any damage to let it go, but it could cause problems. I'd replace it now, and save being stuck on the trails. A few dollars for a new hose, 10 minutes of your time, and piece of mind.

The breather tube cracked on us and we just had a little bigger tube we placed over it and taped it until we could get a new one, we haven't had a problem yet. I would imagine you can by any type of tubing as long as it is the same size and it should work.

Don't want you to think that it's gonna explode or anything like that. It will just stall out the quad. But depending on what kind of situation you're in when that happens, it could be a bad thing.
