I ride through a lot of water and mud. I want to make sure I keep my exterior parts from rusting and locking up. Any suggestions on what to use to keep everything in good order? I was thinking of fogging oil. That is what I use on my jetski.

 

WD-40 is what I occasionally use

 

If you are storing it for the winter, the fogging oil is a good idea. A light coating of any good oil (like WD-40) on the metal parts is a good idea... but keep it light. Otherwise, it just attracts dirt.

 

wd-40 is not a good protectant. it is water based which means after all the other stuff goes away, the water is left behind and creates its own problems. use something like PB Blaster or 7-11 spray.

WD-40 is NOT water based. it's solvent and oil based. The "WD" means Water Displacement. You can't displace water with water. That's why they use oil and solvent.

Well, personally, I like Dupont Silicone Spray with Teflon for lubricating and protecting metal. The PB Blaster is excellent for removing rusted nuts and bolts.
