Thanks for all who have given their input so far everything that's been answered here are all positive info for me , the problem's my brother has told me were thing's like transmission/drive train problem computor control's not being very reliable ; and rider comfort because of the setup of seat and handle bar control's make it very uncomfortable on long trip's and even short ride's !

The weight of the Spyder is of no concern for me because the heavier bike's are alot easier to stop unlike my old Honda CB450 and CB750 GolodWing that took way to much distance to stop when some fool driving car's stop/turn in front of you without giving a signal , i'm 55 yrs. old and don't want of need a crotch rocket that's why i was interested in the Spyder in the first place ; just want a good safe 3 wheel bike cheap on gas and to ride with my brother who own's a 2007 Honda V 1300 2 wheel street machine !

If it wasn't for the fact that i lost both leg's below the knee's at 21 years young in 1975 i can't ride a 2 wheel street bike , and the starting price of the Honda 3 wheeler's are out of sight for someone on my limited income ; so keep the review's coming guy's i would sure love to be able to ride a street bike again !........

 

Williebee, I read an article about regular trikes that said they were really bad handling. It said they push hard on turns and went up on two wheels and out of control pretty easy. It sounds like they aren't that great even for a non-amputee. I don't know because I never rode one.

A reverse trike like the Spyder doesn't have all those problems. I saw a kit somewhere that replaces the front end on a motorcycle like a GoldWing with two wheels.

There's also the option of getting a bike with training wheels. One of my ex's step-fathers had training wheels that automatically lowered into position when he stopped and raised up out of the way when he took off.

 

Wow Willie, I had know idea, The Spyder would be perfect for you. The way the Spyder is setup, even on sharp turns you don't need to lean. Any leaning a rider does is purely stylish.

Actually, I didn't think about the brakes. There is no hand brake on these. There is only one brake pedal controlled by the right foot. You would need some sort of conversion kit. As for shifting, I think they have a button shifting capabilities on the bars. It cost 1500 more for the auto trans. It also has the same liquid-cooled, 998cc, DOHC Rotax V-Twin, as the Austrian-built engine used in the road bikes developed by Aprilia, the Italian company famous for its road-racing motorcycles in MotoGP.

Definately a fun ride and a good way for cagers (biker slang for people that drive cars) to make the transition to motorcycle riding. Being a sportbike rider I don't think they'd hold to the type of performance I am used to, but if I had gotten onto one of these Spyders before getting into Sportbikes I am 100% certain I'd love every bit of it.

I have always been a fan of the Rotax too, it would be interesting to see how it performs.

Well too late for my view I guess....LOL....LOL...Long time since we heard from you...........I really don't have any info on them other then the guy down the road here has one and looks cool..(the ride ,not the Guy!!).......I did hear the wait here in Canada was quite long ,not sure now though, this was when the first year models were released(2007 I think).........Good luck.......Caper........
