Killed the new 850........already.

Not really the machines fault though. I was playing in a mud hole sunday and broke the left front cv axle. The front end was then locked up, winching it out was very tough. The right rear tire went flat due to unknown causes at the time, but now I know what happened.
Anybody curious?

Ok, I'll share a little info.
The larger brake rotors and caliper location do not tolerate ANY rocks being picked out of the mud by the spoked wheels. Any rock larger than 1/4 inch will bind up the wheels if it is in the right location. All four of my wheels and brake pads/calipers show rock damage, the right rear wheel has two 1 inch holes in it due to rocks being pinched and forced through the wheel. The 850 has enough power to twist the axle when bound up and break the cv shaft....impressive! Expensive, but impressive.

2nd time out with my 05 800 broke the R/F cv joint by having the wheel wedged all the way, pulling the back end up with the winch & giving it. Close??????
OKAYYYY not close.

Oh damn man, I am really sorry to hear that!!
Talk about being at the wrong place at the wrong time!
I hope you get it fixed real soon so you can ride some more. If I broke mine already, I would probably cry

Wolf 1 would this mean that offset rims would cure a problem like this? Sorry to hear about your ride being down. Are the new items needed available to you through your dealer or do they have to order everything in.
Take care

Wolf, I really love the looks of the new XPs and rims and all. But, part of me has always kind of said nothing is a durable as good old solid steel wheels. With that kind of tourque they should offer something a little stronger. Sorry to hear about the breakage. Hope you can get back on the trails quickly.

FYI the XP850 in camo has the steel wheel.
