Default 2004.5 sp600 twin electrical issues

Hey Guys, My sportsman is on top of a mountain brokedown. Im not sure what is going on with her and need some help asap. I was hunting up in the adirondacks and the battery light started blinking. Then 15-20 min. later the machine shut down. when i tried starting her again she had plenty of battery(new battery less than a month old) but all she did was click. It sounded to me like a bad starter or solinoid. My question is if the starter was bad would the machine just stall out while riding? Right now as we speak she is up in the adirondack mtns by herself probally cold and misses her daddy....lol any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated....Thanks Dan

If battery indicator flashing on display then possible reg/rectifier issue, not charging battery and machine would die from low voltage to ignition system and lights would flicker as you have said. Another issue on this model depending on manufacturing date is the Ducati coil pack ignition system which would short out. If you dont have a battery pack then tow her out to where you have the time and tools to check her out. With a fully charged battery, when running should be about 14 -14.5 volts going back to battery. Solenoid will just click if battery low or discharged. Doesnt matter if battery only a month old if charging system not adequate, will drain very quickly!! Good luck P.S. also make sure battery terminals TIGHT as will cause non charging issue also.

Yeah..sounds like it quit charging. Depending on how far you have to go a fresh battery will get it a little ways before it discharges, minimize electrical useage as much as possible. Best plan is to have a buddy take you back to the machine with a spare battery. Trade batteries with the good machine every 15 mins or so. . And have another fully charged spare just in case the charging system on the good bike can't keep up. PITA kinda but should get you home if you aren't going a long way..

I paid $103 at the dealer. However, I seen one on e-bay for $67.........There are two different types. The one on e-bay had three yellow wires and a red with a box style connector........I can list the trouble shooting steps in an e-amil if you send my your address.......
