Default Heat from the Engine

I know we sometimes get some annoying heat from the engine when we don't want it. However, We're going to Moab 12/4 thru 12/8 and it's not suppose to be very warm.
I was wondering if any one has taken their engine side covers off specifically just so more heat escapes towards the rider?
Does it help? Does it hurt any thing?

I don't think it'll hurt anything,I've seen machines running with almost no plastic..lol. I'd just throw 'em in my front compartment and if it proves to be a bad idea you can grab 'em and pop 'em back on.
Also check out this link, they look really cool,Id love to try one out, I think it would help alot in cold weather.http://www.atvcocoon.com/noflash.cfm

I take the side panels off in the winter for plowing snow so the heat comes out and warms my legs. I leave them on for all other riding so the heat doesn't burn my legs.....LOL!!
