Hi All,

Can anyone tell me why a winch and 4x4 would just all the sudden stop working? Battery has enough power to electric start the machine. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like an elec. problem. Have you checked your fuse box?

 

Have not. This is on my uncles machine. Any idea where the fuses would be located on a 1999 sportsman 500

 

it does not have a fuse box. check the awd light bulb to make sure its not blown, or there is power to it. make sure the winch connections are good and ther is no bare rubbing wires which would short out the electrical system.

the sportsman 500 1999 does not have fuses.
it has resettable relays.

looking down at the battery go toward the front about 5 inches and there should be a black pouch.
what happens is this pouch normally gets full of mud and falls apart.
but you should find the relays there and be able to reset them. (just make sure you dry it out good first. you can also try to water proof it a little with some aquarium silicon
