It would be funny if a bunch of us posted that in the Can-Am forum.

look i aint talkin outta my *** here. out of my riding experiences and doing research on machines polaris has had the poorest quality. yea i kno every machine has it problems blah blah blah but come on, when the last time an american company put of a good quality product thats been able to match the quality of japanese companies? not in a long time if ever. i kno can-am aint japanese so we dont need a 1000 post correcting me on that tho im sure someone will still correct me. i mean just look at the winch thread, polaris dogged warn for some garage brand. BRP still uses warn. i bet the XP is a awesome performing machine but are you really gonna try and convince that polaris is good quality all around. next our gonna tell me that the big 3 puts out better vehicles than toyota right?</end quote></div>

They don't have awards for ATVs like they do for cars and trucks, but the Chevy Silverado pickup won the J.D.Powers award for highest initial quality this year and last year. It doesn't just MATCH the Japanese quality, it EXCEDES it. So the answer to your question is, this year. No Japanese brand could match these American trucks. Not even Toyota. The big 3 do put out better vehicles and have tons of awards to prove it. Several other American made cars and trucks win awards year after year in their catagories. If ATVs ever get the kind of attention cars do we'll see who makes a good quality product. Probably not the one with the broken frame. [img][/img]</end quote></div>

I am with Ya but I wont go as far to say that American trucks are better but I will say if the Americans have one single strong point that would be there trucks. The Americans have been doing it right for so long it took Toyota three tries to even get in the same ballpark but now that there up to bat the ball has been hit up aginst the wall ready to into the stands if you know what I meen. In otherword since Toyota is pushing us Americans to buld better and more powerfull trucks.
Cometition is a good thing and no American MFG want to loose the truck battle to the Japaniese!

The one complaint I do have is there are to many awards for stupid things like inital qualty. What exactly is that when the vehicle rolled off the assembly line it was the best truck untill the first turn of the key? Come on! Pretty dumb if you ask me!

Initial Quality
The Initial Quality Study (IQS) provides in-depth diagnostic information on new-vehicle quality after 90 days of ownership. Owners and lessees are surveyed regarding problems with their new vehicles.

Results are presented using a problems-per-100 vehicles (PP100) metric, often referred to as "things gone wrong." The study includes quality comparisons by manufacturer, assembly plant, model, and platform.

Quality and Customer Satisfaction
Quality and customer satisfaction are moving targets. As new benchmarks are achieved, customer expectations increase. J.D. Power and Associates automotive research spans the entire ownership continuum, from the shopping and sales experience to initial quality, the service experience, vehicle durability, and collision repair. The firm provides diagnostic information on:

New-vehicle quality
The shopping experience
Sales satisfaction
Brand loyalty
Service satisfaction
Emerging technologies
Online consumer behavior
Component quality
Long-term durability
Collision repair

So, it's after people have owned them 90 days, then they do a survey about EVERY single little complaint. J.D. Power awards are THE awards that car companies want more than anything from Motor Week, Motor Trend, Car & Driver, or anyone else. If a vehicle has any bugs in it it's usually going to show up when it's still fairly new so initial quality is a highly coveted award. This is the big one. You have to be in the automotive industry awhile to see how important it really is. We build great cars too, not just trucks. I don't buy cars so I don't pay any attention to who wins what for them.

Well, I don't believe that either. I think CAN-AM and most of the other manufacturers make good ATV's. They all have their good and bad point. I happen to like a lot of the Polaris good points.

Of course, I'm sure you're just poking a little fun there. In the end, I think we all need to stick together as "ATV'ers". In many areas, it's getting tougher and tougher to find a place to ride... and it's going to get worse... not better.

More time should be spend here in these forums promoting "safe riding", and the "tread lightly" attitude... rather than the "mine is bigger than yours" attitude.

Good info but my feeling still stand on these dumb awards as they dont mean squat IMO. Heck if you want to talk about the best Truck the 09 Ford F-150 just won truck of th year. How is that it is the least powerful half ton truck out there with less than stellar features in a truck that is as ugly as any to ever be produced!

Anyway done with my rant how about that polaris AWD system

My peeve with CAN AM is there outrageous prices. I live in Canada and know what there problem is from what I read. Like the BIG 3 they do not make a a better product but have the highest labor cost then there competitors.

smokin-bud-eatin-mud,

A few times I almost bought a Bombardier ATV (now called Can Am for some reason).

Everytime I get really close to buying, I see another video showing how much extra tire spin is needed for true 4X4.

For any seasoned rider (which I understand you are not), in snow or mud, this type of 4X4 just doesn't make sence.

If you have that much tire spin in mud or snow, you will dig down and you're stuck.

Polaris has a tried-and-proven system and it keeps pulling me back into their camp.

I read that you have been away from ATVing for awhile so this Bombardier (Can Am) will be your proving ground.

IF it lets you down, we all here in the Polaris forum TRUST that you will do the right thing, fess-up that you were wrong, sell your Bomb (Whatever) and buy a Polaris Sportsman XP550 or XP850.

We forgive very easily when people see the light!

<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>A few times I almost bought a Bombardier ATV (now called Can Am for some reason). </end quote></div>

Bombardier sold the recreational division back to the Bombardier/Beaudoin family A few years back.

Its now BRP (Bombardier Recreational Products Inc)

Bombardier kept the rights to the Family name and only makes aircraft and trains now,and has nothing to do with BRP.
