Yeah, I think I am leaning towards the Sportsman. It seems to be the all round better ATV for both work and play. I just want to make sure the Sportsman will be strong enough to pull logs and trailer full of firewood.</end quote></div>

I have used my sportsman 800 to skid some red oak top sections weighing several hundred pounds (guessing 500+ lbs). I just chokered them to the hitch and dragged them behind me with no problem whatsoever... except for when I had the log hang up up a tree or something. A log dolly or trailer would increase what I can pull but at the time I had no dolly or trailer.

The diesel might be better suited to pull but the Polaris will be an overall better machine IMO. you have something that you can ride recreationally on and work with.

People ask me all the time how much I can pull with my 800. My answer is.... If the 800 is not enough better get a tractor!

I agree. Go with the Polaris. I have a 2007 Polaris Sportsman 800X2 Delux, it rocks.... Big and heavy but it does everything and I can go up anything. Pulls like a D8 CAT, winch is good. I does have a smaller hitch, but I got one with a 2" ball so I can move my trailers around, it's much easier that using my truck..... I've seen a lot of great deals on hardly used 800's. I like the Arctic Cat but not sure about the diesle, unless it's stricktly a work vehlce for a Rancher of Farmer. Lots of accessories for the 800 as well, for work and play...
