Trail Blazer 250 Help!
#1
Hey Everyone, Im new to this Forum and am hoping I can get some good info about the quad I bought. Last Weekend I bought a Trail Blazer off my neighbor for 500 bucks. Its a 1996 and looks like its been put through alot. Not very well takin care of say the least... The motor runs first pull of the cord (starters broken lol)
The oil injection system has been blocked off and im running mix gas. I just changed the Trans fluis and am running 50:1 gas mix. Im just trying to make this thing ridable..
Heres the problems
1.) The master cylinder Brake Reservoir is cracked and wont hold fluid. So I have been lookin around and cant find someone to sell me just the plastic reservoir. Any Ideas. I tried fixing it but everything I use The brake fluid just eats right through it..
2.) The transmission cant be shifted when the motor is running or else it grinds. Is there some type of clutch adjustment or something? I can put it in gear, and start the thing up and it drives fine...
3.) The accelerator lever... When I give it gas it seems like it boggs untill about half throttle and then it takes off great. I cleaned the carb out and seems to be in great shape. Just wondering if thats how all trail blazers are or maybe somethings wrong....

1. go through a dealer for the resivor. should be able to get a kit for it for about 40 bucks.
2.it sounds like your idle is either up too high or the clutches are out of alignment. try turning the idle down on the carb and see if that lets to put it in gear. if not then your clutches need to be realigned.
3. go through the carb again but clean/blow air/blow carb cleaner through every little passage you can find. if that still doesnt do it try raising the jet needle a notch or two. then try raising it a notch or two.
it has been my experience that they have a slight bog at the very bottom of the rpm range and only lasts for about 1/8 of the throttle till the motor can pick up speed. it is a two cycle and by nature they dont like bottom end very well

Thanks for the help man. Ive been searchin all over the net and the only way i can buy that little plastic reservoir is by buying the whole master cylinder assembly which the cheapest i have found was like 150.00 Also I should have listed before that when i cleaned the carb out, I blasted all the jets with air. Carbs clean as it can get lol. But about the jet screw thing... Which one should i unscrew a turn or two?

LEt me start by saying 50:1 is too lean you need to go with 40:1. Go to Ebay for a complete master cylinder any 92-98 model will work.On the grinding most likely the "bell crank" on the tranny where the rod hooks is stripped or loose.Dealer item
Check the secondary clutch buttons on the bogging if not that check for intake or exhaust leak.

Go to ebay and get the Haynes shop manual for about $20. It helped me learn to work on Polaris. It will walk you thru checking all the things other people have mentioned. I revived a 91 trailboss I bought from a co worker for $50 + about $400 in parts. The brake system was the most expensive part though. Good Luck!

woops sorry lol. I ment to add in that last post. What is a Bell Crank, and what are secondary buttons? Are they hard to replace. I do all my own work so Im mechanically inclined. But more towards Automobiles.

The bell crank is the arm on top the tranny where the shift rod hooks.Clutch buttons are inside the secondary clutch.
You rally need a manual to do most of the work on these.
