Has anyone out there ever put track kits on a 2004 Sportsman 700? I can buy a set pretty cheap but after talking to my dealer, he states that they will not fit on the 04 models only 05 and up? Any reason why? The only difference between the 04 and 05 that I know is the plastic changed?

The 2002-2004 1/2 use a different track than the other yrs of 700. If memorie is correct it has something to do with the front hubs, a different size I think.

 

I thought these bolted on to the hubs and then have some type of attchment kit to hook to the A frame...

 

Thats right but has some thing to do with small hub or larger hub. The dealer should be able to tell you the difference on the machines. or contact Gary at;

Thanks for your help Mongrol...i have a friend that works for Polaris in the part department...maybe he can answer my questions. If it is simply the hubs...well then i will change the hubs as i really want to put a set of these tracks on.

Found out the hubs are the same on the 04 and 05...any other reasons out there that you can not put track kits on the 04 Sportsmans (Prospector Track Kits) specifically?

 

The only other variable is the mounting hardware. I put tatou tracks from a 600 polaris on my 08 400HO. Had to modify the mounting brackets a bit but its worked good for 2 yrs.
