Default 4x4 question on sportsman

4wd went out in rev. and then the front wheels would catch in 2wd and then 4wd went out in high and low. so now it does not have 4wd at all. changed fluid in it today and it looked fine. unpluged the wire that goes to the front housing under the light and got a test light and with the switch in 2wd no light and in 4wd there was a light on one light.

could it be the wire in the front housing or is it something else?

does anybody have any pictures of them working on there front housing. maybe taking it apart or putting it back together.

Does the AWD light at switch come on when in 4wd mode? Is the Speedometer working?

Default 4x4 question on sportsman

the awd light comes on but the front wheels will not turn over. i've looked back at some post before and how often does the wire break inside the front housing or could that happen? if it is not the wire would it be the magnet thing in there?

in past post i've read that if it was the roller cage there would be pieces in the fluid. i did not have anything in the fluid. i would like to take it apart and see what it is but i don't know how hard it will be and i'm getting ready to go on a ride the 1st so i dont know if i could get it back together in time or if i could even get the parts in time.

If it was the roller cage you would of heard it or felt it break and you would think there would be a odd sound coming from the differential if there were lose pieces of plastic floating around in there.

i unpluged it right below the high beam light and in 2wd my test light did not light up but in 4wd the light was on. so i think it is fine up high but i do not know about inside the front housing. what all do i have to remove to open the housing? i could not find any pictures.

started to work on taking it apart last night and ran into some stuff. got the tire, shock, and steering rod off. but can not get the a-arm to come off or the hub or what ever it is called ( the thing that the shock goes down in). i have the nut off of the cv joint but can not get the splines to go through.
