Default clutch noise?

How do you know if your clutch is bad? I have a SP800 05 polaris, it still runs fine but I hear noises (a whine) near or around the clutch area. It has 4600 miles on it and never had any work done to the clutch. I plow a lot of snow here in Wisconsin, so I just don't want it to stop on me at the worst time! Thanks for your input.

Default clutch noise?

You know my 800 makes a whining noise too. It sounds like it's coming from the left side, and doesnt do it through all rpms, usually just from like 3600 to 4400. I just wrote it off as one of those noises some of the guys complain about. If anybody knows anything about this please chime in cause it's still under warranty. I just hate hauling it to the dealer cause it isnt that close but if it's something serious I wanna get it fixed!

i would clean the clutches or least blow out the dust and check to make sure the ebs bushing are still good. your belt should be sitting up in the secondary clutches. does the bike tend to move when your in gear or shift real hard?

The bike doesnt shift or creep. And my EBS is strong, way more than what the 500s is but I just assumed that was the bigger motor.

belt is new, where are the ebs bushings? When the belt went I had to use a SP700 belt to get me back to the motel in Hurley this fall, the whine started a little after that and I wrote it off as coincidence. Stendori, you seem to be the forum expert, what do you think? Are you a Polaris mechanic?

If its not creeping or hard to shift the ebs washers are probably alright, I would put an 800 belt back on it, they are quit a bit tougher belt, I run one on my 700. The dealer should warrant the 1st belt, they did mine, they will need the vin #.
