[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/img]Hi all, My brother in laws SP was dead, he put in a new Interstate "wet" battery, started fine. He plowed on thursday with no issues, put it back on the battery tender, then this morning went to plow and completely dead again. No lights, no clicking, nothing!! First thing I thought of was he had the kill switch in wrong position. Had him check that , even move it back and forth a few times, still nothing. He said the battery tender was BLINKING green?? Strange, mine doesn't blink its either solid red or green. He always uses the kill switch instead of just turning the key switch to shut it off. Maybe the kill switch is worn out?? Week old battery defective??? Any fuse issues???? I'm stumped, thanks for any help.

 

The flashing green light means the battery is greater than 80% charged, and the Battery Tender is topping it off. It should go to a steady green light when the battery is fully charged.

With that said, I would check the connections to the battery and the ground to the frame. Remove, clean, and apply some dielectric grease to all connections (including the ground to the frame) and make sure everything is tightened properly.

Yes, it's possible that the new battery is defective, but the battery tender should tell you that with a steady red light, or an alternating blinking red light/green light.

as he has stated, first place to look would be the connections as he just replaced the battery. check the voltage out put of battery to make sure its 12.5 volts or better. if so then start tracing the power to the starter. check the fuseable links in the line to see if there defective.

I'm guess he's not as smart as I gave him credit for. I've had to come to his rescue more than a few times when he's broke down. Thanks for replies.
