Default 01 500 H.O. clutch problem

The clutch on my 500 "creeps" at idle. I don't have any tools for this and need it fixed. What can be done? Is there a easy fix? Don't really know what to do. who can help a newbie? I searched for info but didn't find anything. Thanks in advance. Craig

Default 01 500 H.O. clutch problem

I've posted several times on creeping on 01 and 02 models, usually has to do with realigning rear clutch to front clutch, plus wear washer in front clutch one way bearing usually worn, plus a lot of dust to blow out! Shimming or removing shims on back of rear clutch to help alignment doesn't require special tools,BUT front clutch does need spider tool if going into clean one way bearing/replacing worn parts! Manual highly suggested, worth the money if doing your own work,PLUS just for the general knowledge! Good luck

How would one go about checking what is wrong with it? Craig

I took my wife's 02' 500 HO in to the dealer for the same problem, it had 3500 miles. They gave me a list of problems it could be when I asked what it might cost, anywhere from a cleaning to a new clutch for $550. In the end all I needed was a new belt.
