Well I'm sorry I have'nt replied in a while, Been busy at work and all. So I installed the new stator, buttoned everything up and, Vroooom crannked right up and seems to be fixed so far. I ran it around pretty good for the past weekend and it never shut off on its own so it seems to be fixed. thanks to everyone for youre help. I appreciated it all. Shawn

UncleShane,,,, Don't give up,,Trust me I own this 01 sportsman 400, but also in the stable at home is a suzuki 450 King Quad EFI, suzuki 250, scrambler 400, predator 90, honda 110, and a recon 250(got 4 kids and a wife who ride) and the polaris is by far the best pulling/ most comfortable to ride. once it is fixed you will be happy you have it. Try the stator, Mine ohmed out fine but would intermittenly stop working. Trust me its agrivating and tough to troubleshoot. I replaced it for about $110.00 and now it runs like a champ. Good luck.
