850 xp belts

Did you try another dealer yet? No way that shouldn't be covered unless there is obvious evidence of abuse...
How many miles on it? I smelled mine a few times early on when I tried to play hard at about 70 miles the first time. I pulled the cover and the belt looked fine so I quit beating on it until it had about 25 hours on it,now it doesn't smell and hasn't given me any more trouble at all and I have ran it pretty hard. I think I babied it too much during break-in and it actually wasn't broken in good at 70 miles..

You need to be careful what you say though...at 20 hours it isn't even broke in and if you violated break-in instructions they'll get you on that.</end quote></div>
I hope they don't see the vid I posted...........ha ha ha

Yeah...show them where Polaris rates it at 5000 miles and offers a Limited Lifetime warranty on the belt...
How exactly did it fail? Have you pulled the cover. I know one other guy had his fail real quick, the seal around the housing got messed up at the factory and it was letting water in..shredded the belt. Fixed under warranty..

we had been ridin all day... pretty hard riding buy nothing out of the ordinary from how i've ever rode any other quad i've owned.. heading back to the trucks and was running around 60mph give or take and it just quit pulling.. heard the belt start slapping around so i pulled right over and waited for someone to come with a trailer...

5,000 mile belt in need of replacement already? WOW!!
Dealer won't stand behind a $10K ATV sale? WOW!!
Let's see what Polaris has to say about that! Let us know sombitch_ls1!</end quote></div>
my thoughts exactly.. see i still haven't taken it to a dealer since its over an hour away from where i live.. i have only spoken to them on the phone and all they would say is that belts are normal wear and there was nothing they could do.. but i was more than welcom to bring it and have them look at it and see.. maybe it was a defect and they could fix it under warranty but they weren't making any promises. also said they would fix it for about $230 parts and labor!!!! haha 70-80 dollar belt tops!!

Geez that is really steep, and the dealer is not a good dealer if he is going to charge you for a machine with only 20 hours on it.
Please let us know what your end result is, and I wish you luck.

They not sure if anything is wrong but they have a price to fix it made up already? or is $230 what they charge to change a belt.
Something was wrong with the belt or the ATV for sure. You should get more than 20 hr even if you kept in in High range and tried to break it on purpose.
I have 250 hr on mine with some hard miles, even a high performance 150 HP+ snowmobiles can count on 1,500 + miles and there harder on belts than ATVs.
