I think the problem is Massachusetts specific. Has anyone from Mass bought insurance? If so contact info and your cost would be very helpful.

I'm in Ma..my wife works for an insurance co. The place they use for Insurance (for ATV's) has a minimum premium charge... Once I get the insurance I'll let you know the rate.

I know she just insured someone for liability insurance only and it was $150 (the minimum) for the year for one machine

Ruggo, I went through the same kind of decision making process as I am also from MA. NH doesn't require any insurance whatsoever. VT requires person liability insurance for ATVs because some of their trail connectors are Class IV roads. I also could not get insurance in either VT or NH because I'm not a resident and the quads are garaged in MA. I checked out liability insurance only for both quads and it came to $288. I decided not to ride in VT which is too bad as I have land their that has trails going right through it. The big name insurance companies don't even offer insurance in MA because of the high government control of the insurance industry. It may get better in the future as MA is finally allowing the companies to set their own rates and have some good old competition.

Thanks Wildwest, I can get it for $144 per quad also. I don't know about processing fees and can't remember the insurance company's name. I've pretty much decided that I'll ride in NH as the "Live free or die" state doesn't have all the restrictions. I think if I ever move up to VT or NH I'll probably insure up there. I've talked to guys from NH, VT, and ME that have liability, collision, and theft on their quads and pay about $150 per quad for all 3 coverages. We've got to stop electing the type of people who like the government controlling everything....

WildWest and Moose, Can you guys post or PM me the insurance company names and agency that provided the coverage. It would also help to know what the coverage was. I live in Milford Ma. but won't mind a little travel if I can at least get liability coverage. Theft also worries me but I can get over that. Thanks guys.
