the minnesota 20-40 below deg weather froze my battery, and i couldnt recoil start it. i had to jump power right to the starter. since the solinoid took a crap also. wonder how long its gona be before i get it back from the shop. hope its under the warranty coverage. also i coundt evon use the winch to lift or lower the plow, so i had to shovel 2 driveways.

Wow, that stinks. I moved my rig into the basement (from the barn) because I wasn't sure what this extreme cold might do to it (I'm just North of Milwaukee)... looks like one thing it can do is freeze the battery... that's the first time I've heard of that happening. Bummer dude.

usually a fully charged battery will not freeze, but who knows in those temps. if you had a battery charger or maybe even a tender to leave on the battery overnight to keep it charing(helps to heat it as well) might be the way to go. we are having extremly cold weather as well(-20 to-30 F) and i left my 400's battery in the wheeler (fully charged)for the winter so we'll see what happens in the spring.

where im at its the same temps.
on thing i used to to with my old 91 jeep that worked like a charm...
take the battery inside with you.
its too easy to get it out and put it back in, and you dont have to buy or mess with a tender or booster.
my wifes car gets parked in the driveway while my new jeep and my wheeler stay in the garage, but its because my wifes car has a battery blanker and a block heater.
you can make your own battery blanket too but its easier to just pull it out when your not riding

That's some crazy cold temps..it was about 10 here this morning...which is nothing to you guys but it is probably the coldest it has been in 6 years! I hope you guys have a 60/40 mix of antifreeze..might be cutting it close with 50/50..especially if your machine is outside...
Edit-I just checked..coldest it has been in recorded history as far as I can tell...at least at the local airport..record low was 19 in 1997.
