I not a painter but any decent Enamel type paint should work ok with good prep...but if you have access powder coating would be better...
Mine is just prepped(sanded and cleaned well) and sprayed with Enamel and clear coated..so far it is holding up well. I did my muffler heat shield too,and it's holding up as well...
if it starts coming off I'll have it powdered. My buddy does coating but he is an hour away so I just painted it..

Have you already bought the used 800? If so it would not hurt to type in that vin number to see if it works. What is the shift **** like, and I hear you on the warranty. That is like a 300 dollar freebie i believe</end quote></div>
i have the billet shift **** from the catalog it looks quite different.......and i haven't bought the 800 my buddie has one and it's off of warranty and i was gonna use his vin...i know it's dishonest but hell my dealer said any warranty past the 1 yr mark is super expensive.....like a thousand for three years and at that price i may aswell just pay for repairs no??

Yes it is shady, and maybe even fraud, lol. But that should work as long as your buddy don't mind and you can get your dealer to change the registration on the 800 with Polaris into your name and say you had bought it before the XP..I know some have done this when they did buy a used machine and never changed the owner info with Polaris.

sorry, don't want to make any body mad, just had some emails in my personal email account, and people thought that they were getting a warranty for the old ATV and the shift **** for the new XP

HO... the **** looks great. For those who were asking, another thing you can use is a self etch primer before applying the paint. The primer has an acid to it and will stick to anything, even glass. Once you spray the primer, you have a solid "foundation" to work with.. It will NOT come off ! (only if you use a grinder)

I agree MT...I'd also remove the e-mail address Tyler..

Good info...
I did mine on a whim..it was that or throw it in a drawer. It stuck out like a sore thumb when it was bare aluminum... lol
