Default redline rpm's

whats a safe top rpm for a sportsman 500, in the snow i want to watch that more than the speed

Its a CVT Tranny you have no control over the rpm, the only way you can over rev the motor is if you gas it too much while in Low range, then you just go by ear and common sense if ifs sounds like its over reving.

Generally they say do not go over 20mph in low range.

so just watch it more in low range. thats easy enough. wasnt moving fast, deep snow on slippery ice, but it was reving more than i wanted to see it and didnt want to stop or it would get difficult to get it going again.

safe top rpm range on a 500 is 6600-6700.You can control the rpms with clutch springs and weights but you need to know what you are doing
