Default Installing a winch

So I just purchased a Viper Winch and am trying to install it. The instructions are not that great. Can anyone give me any tips. I have a 2007 800 EFI X2. Is it prewired? Where should I put the contractor?

I love this kind of stuff, just can't figure it out.

Thanks for the help!

hi. yup the main power winch wire is ran. you just have to hook up power at the battery. the contractor will go on the polaris oem made bracket. if you look under your front (right) side fender. there is a bracket with 2 screws holding it there. the winch power cable will be there also. polaris says if made after 9/4/06 the wire is there. i love how it was pre wired and it had a spot for the contractor. now all you have to do is wire it..... fun!!!!!!!!!!

the wire you need to hook up in the rear is red, with yellow shrink wrap, it's under the left rear fender

Wow, you sure saved me a huge headache. This is much easier than I was making it to be. My only thing I have left to do is run the wire to the key assembly, do you know if that is prewired as well, and if so where I can find it?

Thanks!!!!!

you hook the to wires under the fender to the contactor
from the contactor 2 wires go to the winch, and the other wires (depends on your set up), go to the switchthe switch

So I don't need to run another wire. I only need to run the 4 wires from the contactor, correct?

2 wires (hot and negative) go to the winch it self
and what ever wires you have coming from the switch are attached to the contactor according to the directions
