Sorry for the rant, but man it is so crazy! I can never decide on my future purchase

of a tire set cuz just when I am ready with all my research/testimonials, then too negative

many posts about a particular brand always happens!.

We should start a Top-5 list based on affordability. Like if Money was NO object, what is the

proven all-around best tire, trail, hardpack, mud and snow? Then we can move on from

there, what is the best MUD tire, what is the best SNOW tire, What is the best hardpack.

Heres a wish list I composed but NOT sure what would be better.

1- BIGHORN-2

2- Terracross

3- MudLites or Swamplites

4- ITP 589's

5- Mudbogs or Mudzilla's

Alll of these are NOT necessarily in any order just a TOP 5, thoughts?

Rtick - heard some complaining of side punctures on the Terracross. There was a review of tires last fall. Not sure if I can find though.

I guess maybe I am looking for the MAGIC TIRE, knows all and does all, but I guess that is just a pipe dream, LOL.
Whatever path I take I hope its a good all around tire that serves me well with no BUYERS REMORSE!

Follow up on the Terracross. While looking for the tire reviews I came across this on the ITP site:

"For 2008, the TerraCross R/T tire line uses all-new XD (Extreme Duty) construction -- an extra sidewall ply and increased sidewall and tread rubber thickness for improved puncture protection."

So maybe they have corrected the sidewall issue.

I can't find the review I was thinking of. Too bad as it was a pretty good review that tested on hardpack, crossing on slippery rocks, going through mud, etc.

Did come across this for what it's worth.

I am surprised to see the Mudlite XTR as a that low
on the sales list. I remember when I joined this forum
to about a year ago that these threads were flooded with
Mudlite enthusiasts and from all their reports a true
proven tire.

But I did hone in on your top title, "Mud tire". I think what
I want as an exceptional trail tire with superior mud handling
that won't break my wallet. When I looked at the price for a
set of Big Horns and Terra cross XD, it was from high 800's
to over a thousand. As to why I still sit here without any aftermarket
tires, LOL. I like the price on the Mudbogs even if not as good as
some maybe with the pricing I am willing to compromise.

Thoughts?

The trail tires....bighorns, terracross, mudlite.....are not going to have superior mud handling.

If you want something that will do both mud and trails, good options are Mudbugs and Outlaw MST's. Go to atvoutfitters dot net. I have gotten my best prices through them.

Rtickwad - I think we are looking for a similiar tire - but I additionally need one good in snow. Unfortunately most reviews/comparisons aren't conducted in snow.

I am willing to give up a little trail "comfort" for a more aggressive tread that it better in mud and snow. But don't need a full blown mud tire. I do want a tire that is less prone to "tracking" in ruts, one that has a good center ridge for smoothness, and one that has pretty good side lugs for when I get into the rocks.

I ruled crossed the Mudbugs, Mudzilla's, and 589's as they are more aggressive of a mud tire then I need.

I ruled out the Mudlite's as I like the side lugs of the Bighorn, Terracross, and Swamplites.

Initially I was interested in the Terracross until I read about the sidewall issues, but it's appears this may have been fixed.

A lot of people like the Bighorns, but there was something in the review I didn't like - unfortunately I can't remember and can't locate the article.

The Swamplite got a good all around review - so I have been leaning towards them.

I think the Kenda Bounty Hunter ended up being the best all around ATV tire in the review.

Does anybody have any feedback on the Bounty Hunters?

I have heard nothing but bad stuff on here about the Swamplite tires. I have a set of them and couldnt be happier. I put the green slim in them and have never had a problem, as far as wear, they are doing great by my standards.
