You're rite, didn't mean say Polaris there...hence "aftermarket".. just meant getting the kinks worked out.. An HMF pipe would be the first thing I put on the new 850, don't wanna catch my pants on fire..

You will find plenty of problems with every machine on the market if you go by whats said about this model or brand, or that model and brand in a Forum. People post there problems, and seak answers or ideas on how to fix them. You don't see a whole lot of topics about someone that is 100% satified with every asspect of there machine. Just remember no matter whet brand or model, it is always more comon to see threads about problems or cloplaints on here than threads singing praises.

I have only herd of one person having a brake problem, and that was today when I checked this forum. I gues I missed the belt topic. I have herd the back fireing thing before. But as I said you can find a list of problems with any brand out there 1 st year to 5th year on the market. Normally the longer something has been on the market the longer the list gets.

Well put! Snedd are you feeding into the hysteria,lol?...
Probably 90% of posts on these forums are looking for answers/help with a problem. I'm very close to 100% satisfied with mine..no machine is perfect though and 1st year or not we can and will break stuff. Overall I think the XP is doing verywell for a new machine...

Let's see I know of 3 broken belts,
2 with noisey rear axles,
2 who have worn out brakes prematurely,
1 that is apparenly a lemon and had just about every known issue.
The spike load limiter makes noise under hard acceleration with tires larger than 30"...
The tires suck...
Also remember that on these forums we only get as much of the story as the poster wants to give

I'm sure I forgot something, but bottom line is these issues are not reallly issues when you consider the numbers...there are other machines that have been out for years that have more known un-fixed "issues" that the XP has shown so far and people keep buying them and over look alot of the "issues" because people have came up with their own fixes or have learned to live with the issue as "just the way it is"...
Case in point look at the 800 Sportsman...exhaust gets so hot on the right side, even after the heat shield fix, that it will burn your leg and is uncomfortable to ride at low speeds for long periods...I used header wrap to fix that. Also the driveline noise on the 800..normal rigth? I could go on....
Every little noise and XP makes owners are worried something is wrong because it is so smooth and quiet..
Snedd if you want and XP now but are holding off because of the few things you have read here that's ashame..i think you would be more than happy with the XP in 2009..jmo

I'm a bit paranoid...lol. Waiting to see if they have any issues is one reason for me waiting, I'm also waiting mostly because of the money sit- u- ation. I want to get my loan paid down before I go and trade up. I was also looking at the Renegade 800R. For now, I'm happy with my Sportsman 800, it's been a great quad so far, I'm in no hurry to get rid of it.

I hear you..I can be that way too..especially with my mechanical curiosity. Really overall though the XP has impressed me..the engineering is well thought out..and as much as I like Polaris I must admit this machine does not say Polaris..with the exception of a very few details I venture to say no one could guess it was a Polaris if they were shown one with no decals prior to public release..the one thing that does stand out as Polaris is the shifter....and I think they should fire whoever left it on the XP..lol..

Gentlemen-
After getting back from the 09 Dealer Expo and unloading the trucks, we have had a chance to test fit a production Swamp Series on our owner's 850. When the exhaust was designed, it was built on the 850, test fit on the 550 and field tested on both those quads. Those prototype exhausts were taken to our production department to be used to design a fixture for manufacturing. Something did not translate from the original design to the fixture and our first production run of these exhausts can cause fitment issues. In line with our industry leading two year warranty, any of the original production run exhausts may be sent to our factory to be checked and if needed, fixed or replaced with the original design. Production stopped based on your feedback and we have contacted all of our dealers that may have some in stock and they are sending them back to be checked. We apologize for the inconvenience but if given the chance, we will make this right. *ALL of these exhausts sent back due to this claim will be expedited through our Warranty Department in 1-2 business days.* Please use this form https://hmfengineering.com/warranty.php when sending it back and contact mike@hmfengineering.com for your RA# to ensure it is expedited. We are available to answer any other questions you may have.

Thank you for your patience.
