Strange noise in low range
Hello everyone! I finally got to do some riding over the past week and had a blast BUT my wheeler is making a strange noise while in low range.
It only makes the noise at higher RPM and I could be over revving it on accident causing it to make noise but I don't recall it ever happening before. The noise is hard to describe but it sort of sounds like a large fan starting;it fades in quickly and gets louder with more engine speed. I thought maybe it was something to do with the belt but it only does it in low and will also do it in neutral if I rev it pretty good. I can not get it to make the noise in high range no matter how fast or hard I ride it.
I'm sure it's not the radiator fan it's way too loud for that to be it.It sounds more like the cooling fan on a Peterbilt or something. When the noise comes on it can also be felt as a dull but really fast vibration.
Anybody have any ideas?
I normally don't ride hard in low but it's easy to over rev and not mean to. Also I normally don't rev in neutral but I was trying to replicate the noise to rule things out. I thought these machines had rev limiters to prevent damage anyway.
One last note...the machine runs good even when the noise happens and the sound dissapears instantly as soon as the rpms drop below a certain level.
Thanks!

Thanks JF, I guess maybe I'm just over revving a little in low. I can't seem to find the "recommended top speed" for low range.
This is the first time since I've had my machine that low range seems too low and high range seems too high. I had to do a lot of shifting on last weeks ride. I think maybe I worry too much about my belt...LOL!

Ive heard and felt that noise, More than likely its the air and Clutch intake tubes under the seat vibrating from revving, thats why Polaris fitted a peice of foam around them under the seat, if you can somehow secure those tubes from moving and buzzing then i bet you got the problem fixed, I also had a problem with another noise that is similair it felt like a whooooooozzzzzzzz and one of the exhaust hangers was tousning the heat shield and making a noise also. that all I know

Thanks RP I'll check those things out.
