Seen this in the Yamaha forum. I thought was good topic so I posted in here too. I have three dogs in my garage and house, with many guns to back them up. My wife even has her own 38 pistol to help out. As well as she should since we just got her a quad too.

INSURANCE IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO.

It costs to much in lost work, time, and money to defend yourself for shooting somebody. Many times more than the insurance premium would be.

Most states don't allow you to shoot burglars anyway.

Hey guys~
Personally, all I do is keep my machines in a locked building and insure them! Both those two should be no-brainers!

Well my state does allow me to shoot burglars. I live out in the country, and if were home and the dog (great german short hair) is barking at 2:00am, Yes I do go to the door with a gun. If were not home, then they better worry about my neighbors seeing them becasue they wont hesitate either.

by the way, what is the cheapest way anybodys fund to get atv inusrance. I just went with my car insurance but it seem a little steep

Progressive insures our two HO's for what State Farm wanted for one. Full coverage for the two about $200 a year.

I keep mine outta sight under my deck chained to a post with a case hardened chain and lock .
And if that fails it is well insured.

Have a good one

I keep my atvs in my locked garage and just for kicks, I chain them to the garage beam with 3/8' log chain and heavy duty locks. I realize someone could still get them by cutting the locks but, the chains slow them down a little. I am not about to make stealing my stuff easy. If all else fails, they are both insured.

PS. I really hope no one ever trys to steal them while I am home. I would probably go out in a rage with the 357 and someone won't be stealing anymore. I hope this never happens because the cost of the atvs is not really worth shooting someone over and I would hate to go to jail for it. It just ticks me off when someone steals something you worked so hard to buy.

Locks, chains and even keeping them indoors don't always work. Remember locks only keep honest people honest. And even if they are kept indoors there is always the threat of fire or an act of God. Insure those dudes its the only way to go. If anything was to happen to my quads there is no way I could replace them without insurance.
