Good post hobbles but you quoted the PL14610 as one you didn't and did use. Can you clarify?

Sorry, I miss read the #.

Thanks for the info.

Afternoon Mongrol
I use the PL14610 with the L not the P14610, with out the L. The P14610 does not have the check valve in it.

We have been putting on a Fram CPH6607 on our 97 SP500 since new and that was 12 years and 7000+ miles ago. I use it on my 2001 and others filters, there are many auto store filters that fit on that engine besides Frams as well.

Read through these and you may never see the inside of a Polaris dealership again.

Here's an interesting link to info about oil filters, and one of the reasons some folks (including me) don't like Fram filters. It's a link and study that's been around for a while. However, at my dad's garage, we get to see plenty of filters. I cut several Fram filters (and several others apart). Based upon what I've seen, I can't argue with the findings in that oil filter study.

That may be so for a filter on a car that get changed every 3000+ miles but on a ATV that gets changed every 50hr / 500 miles I think one filter is as good as the next, It would not supires me if Fram or Champion Laboratories make Polaris's oil filters.

Lucky if the oil can get dirty enough between changes on a ATV for the oil filter to do anything.

Our dealer charges $25 (Canadian) for the Kit ,2 quarts full sythetic 0w-40 and the oil filter.

I have read several oil filter tests and all have pointed to fram as one of the lowest quality of all filters tested. Wix (NAPA) is consistently in the top two. Use what you like but WIX is a superior product.

NAPA filters are made by wix and the filters that fit our Polaris machines are available at the NAPA stores.

My blanket statement is factual.
