My starter has been acting up on my 300. I have been having to start it using the recoil starter. The last time I started it was last week to plow snopw it started great on like the second pull.

Just went out to try to start it so I could load it on the trailer and I have GAS coming out of the recoil housing everytime I pull it. It looks like a lot of gus. What could becausing that? I never noticed it happening last time or anyother time that I can think of. It looks like I have some gas leaking on the garage floor also.

I didn't get it started this morning I really didn't try all that hard I figured I better to some checking to see if anyone would have an idea why this could be happening. Like I said it starts so good most of the time, even when it is 10 to 20 below zero I can pull start it within I couple of pulls. I didn't take the time to check for spark but I did pull the Plug and it was really wet and I never choked it. That is one thing I found with this 300 when you are starting it by hand don't choke it or it floods.

Does anyone have any idea's on what could be happening? I have really enjoyed this old 300 and have not had to many problems with it but this problem has got me stumped.

sounds like a dirty carb isnt letting the fuel flow stop. its running into the bottom of the crankcase and leaking out of the stator side seal.
