Default stock tires

for X2 owners- Do any of you know offhand what brand of tires came stock on our X2s? (mine is an 07) I know they were 489s, just can't remember if they were Carlisle or Titan. I had XTRs put on mine before I even picked it up, so I didn't pay much attention to the stock tires. I have someone interested in buying them now, and they want to know what ply they are. I think the Carlisles are 2 ply and the Titans are 3, but not positive. Thanks guys.

Thanks ncitro. I finally smartened up and checked out Carlise's website. They are 3 ply tires.

They're not 3-ply, they're 3-star. That means 6-ply equivalent.

stock 489 tires arent very good tires for all round traction to me but are not too bad for wearing as long as you dont road ride. imo.

The 489 's are only 3 ply rated according to this

ATV Tires page 235

http://www.carlisletire.com/pr...s/atv/at489/index.html 3 ply Star Means 50 mph max

Does anyone know how many ply the PXT tires are? I think they're supposed to be Carlisle ACTs, which are 3star...what's the difference between 3star and 6 ply? I read that they're the same, but then why don't they just say one or the other?

Edit: nevermind I found an old thread in this forum on the PXTs, thanks guys, looks like the consensus was that they are 3 ply tires. and even lighter than the real ACTs.

I e-mailed Carlisle here's what I got back and sent.

Hi could you please if possible let me know if the Carlisle 489 tires are 3 ply or 6 ply . Does 3 stars on the side of your tires mean 6 ply thus 2 ply per star . Thanks for taking the time to answer .

Thank you for your interest in Carlisle Tire & Wheel. Not exactly, the star rating actually only addresses the PSI of the tire. Example would be a 2 star tire as a max PSI of 4 lbs. Where a 3 star tire has a max PSI of 7. What this actually does is allow more face of the tire to make contact with the surface. When inflating to higher PSI's this causes the tire to stand tall and narrow, thereby losing the contact with the surface.

The AT489's range from 4 ply to 6 ply.

why in the good lords name would you ever want to change from XTR's to the stockers?

Send the XTR's my way - I will use em.
