Is a SC500 faster than a SC400 2 stroke??

Anyone ever line these two up? Also, how often does the top end need to be rebuilt on the 400? Thanks.

Pretty much the same speed. Most of the mags gave the 500 an extra MPH on top. Keep in mind that with only a couple hundred dollars, the 400 will waste the 500. As for rebuilds...not too sure.

A new Wiseco piston and gaskets with a bore job and a hone will set you back about $ 200.00.
As for the life span of the engine, it all depends on how you ride, modifications, if your jetting is a little on the rich side, etc.
A little oil pre-mixed into the fuel and letting the engine warm up to operating temp before riding will go a long way to keeping the engine alive.
A pipe and clutch kit brings the 400 to life, less than $ 400.00 turn it into a monster.
