Changing contactor for winch
#1
May be a stupid question, but here goes anyways!
I will be replacing the contactor for my winch soon and if I disconnect the battery cable, will I loose the stored data in my console, such as hours, mileage, etc.
I have the electronic console on my 2007 500 EFI Deluxe.
Thanks!

Thanks folks, yes, it is the info that is stored on the handlebar pod that |I was worried about.
In order to change out the contactor, I would like to disconnect the battery first because it is tight to work in there and I have to slightly modify the control wires (Black and Green). The connector is different on the new one.

yes it will keep the info. other wise it be easy to say a wheeler had zero miles and hrs on it when you sell it. its just like a car display it will keep all the info. i kinda doubt theres a battery inside tho. but it will keep the info. no worrys.

One more hint is don't leave any jewelry on your hands when doing this. Especially on the X2. I made quite a connection between the battery post, my wedding ring, and the engine. It burned about 1/8 of flesh off my ring finger.
