That's not many miles for a 8 year old machine I would hope it would start and not burn oil .

well it was alot to me. and alot of people in my area thought i never let it sit. when i lived in the country tell 2005 i drove it to work, play, see the neighbors, used it on the farm, road trips, and so on. i rarly used my car/truck. then i had to move out of the county in 05. then it was only used at my work, and sometimes to drive around. had i stayed in the country ida probly had over 10000miles on it or more. but im saying whith that many miles i didnt have no problems with the engine. just cv boots.

I've seen some ATV's up here in SD that are totally trashed at 3000 miles. I've also seen some pretty nice ones with 16000 miles. It's all in the maintanence and how hard you ride.

Like the comments above, goes with the saying, "use 'em and abuse 'em" are the ones you don't want to buy, and if you see a really clean one, you know it's been taken' care of, then it makes your wallet a little more friendly when stimulating the economy!! I had three '99 Polaris Scrambler 400 4x4's, they had plenty of use, couldn't tell yah how many miles were on them, but the family rode them every weekend in Northern Minnesota, and a couple trips out to Colorado every year. Figured at least 150 miles/weekend, maybe more, I would guess they had at least 10K miles on them when I sold them to a guy from Kansas in 2007. The guy drove to the TC area and picked them up from me, said they were the cleanest he's ever seen. With Winter up here, gave me a chance to strip these machines to the frame every Winter, painted them, new brake pads, rebuild clutches, any motor work, etc. that needed to be done was done. My '07 X2 800 got a fresh look this past Winter, frame touch up, pads, etc., even yanked the motor completely out of the frame to inspect and clean. Get a bottle of "Whink", best stuff for cleaning the Rust and baked on dust on the motor.
