Default Extreme winch any one use?

3p,

I have the extreme winch, the 3500 model. I've had it for a couple of years and used it mainly for goofing around a some plowing. The winch works great but I did have to replace the contacter this year but for 20 bucks wasn't a big deal. The winch came with a model specific mount, and everything else you'd need for 130 bucks. I've seen a lot of complaints regarding some of the Warn winches also, so for the money, I'd do it again.

I have had the 3000 lb. model for over a year now. Only had to use it twice. Hung up on a tree once and stuck in the mud the other time. Zero problems so far. I will say that if I depended on the winch on a more routine basis, I would feel better going with a Warn or another name brand. With the riding and work that I do, I just don't worry about getting stranded. The Xtreme is more than enough for me. I added 50' of synthetic line right after Christmas. I still just use the tow strap for pulling logs and trees though.

I have had one for a couple of years now.. Just replaced the cable because it was starting to fray with syn rope.
Use it all the time! Haven't had a problem with it!

I have never had an extreme winch but I have a venom that are made by the same company and sold by the same person on e-bay just using different user names sometimes. I had my venom cable come off the spool the 3rd or 4th time I used it. I would not buy one of those brands again. I would say go with Viper. There is a guy that goes on the highlifter forum from the company and answers questions and makes sure people get things fixed and he fixes the trouble at the factory so it doesn't happen anymore. I wish I had bought one of them. I have a gorilla and venom. I haven't had to use the gorilla yet.

I just picked me up a polaris sportsman 850 and it has the Xtreme 4000x winch on it. The winch has been used and is dirty. It does work with both the button on the handle bars and the cable controller. I hope it last and does not break. Wish you luck on what ever your choice is.
