Default Spark Plug Upgrades???

Ok, I have a 2004 Sportsman 500 H.O. (Limited Build Shadow Grass edt. - but that doesn't really matter), I just want to know if I can change my spark plugs to NGK Iridium plugs. First off, stupid *** manual states that for my build and model, I need BKR5E plugs with a .035" gap, but then in the back of the manual it states that for a 500, it needs BKR6E plugs w/ a .036" gap... I really wish they'd make up their mind. Anywho, the second plug (BKR6E) seems to correspond to other application guides that I've found thus far. Ok, now the real question, can I substitute my standard BKR6E plugs with NGK BKR6EIX Iridium plugs? NGK's web site application guide states that these will work, but you know how that goes. Also, it states that the gap on these Iridium plugs is .028". Will this make a difference? And if so, good or bad? What are the benefits of switching to an iridium plug? Herd that better throttle response, etc. , but at the same time, I don't want to FUBAR my ride for good. Thanks for your help.

The Iridium plug will work , I use one in my 06 500, but I think your takes the BR5 not the BR6, my 06 takes the BR6, but my buddys 04 I think takes the BR5, if I remember right we had bought a box of 4 BR5's to split cause thats what his took, and then when I changed mine I found that mine took the BR6. I would check into so you get the right one.
