Help!!! New 525 XC-----No Keys-----
#11
well......locksmith thinks he can make key from ignition....but needs a KTM blank key. All dealerships in my area need to order the blank key as well. So, I just ordered the new ignition to be sure. No riding for me this weekend. Hopefully next weekend though.

If someone wants to steal an ATV they don't need the key. If you think not having a key is going to stop it from being stolen you might want to re-consider that.
I understand not posting a "how to" on hot wiring..but key or no key thieves will take it..telling them how to hotwire it just makes it easier for them to get it running after they have stolen it.
True, a thief will take what they want. But just giving the info to anyone will make it easier for someone to just take a joyride.
Ahh..I see a mod added to my post, and likely deleted what I quoted..I italicized the mods text. I was just editing my post to remove the quote..thatnks.
It appears the mod took out something that he might not have noticed..kind of off topic but nonetheless..
I was basically saying having to use a key on an ATV is most important to keep unauthorized riders from joying riding the machine..IMO namely children that might have acess to the machine and decide to sneek a ride. I know alot of people store machines with the key in it,especially those that store them indoors..If kids can get to your ATV don't leave the key in it.
And if theft is a concern use additional security means other than just taking the key out.

well sorry..........I didn't think my method of getting it to run was any top secret stuff. Those ignitions are very cheap which is pretty consistant with all ATV ignitions. I think they are more for the quick deterant like when you run into the store real quick or to use the crapper. . But in all reality, other then that they are useless. My 2 bikes don't have keys and I have never thought for a second that my quads are more safe because they do have keys.
Sorry if I upset anyone.......no harm was meant.
