2008 RZR Tranny...HELP!!!
#1
Hi, We have a 2008 RZR. When we put it in 4-wheel drive the front wheels will not spin and we vertually have no 4-wheel drive. We still have power in the electrical system. We are being told that we have to replace the entire front 4-wheel drive unit at a cost of about $900 for the unit only. We are wondering if anyone else out there has had this problem. We have about 3000 miles on this machine. We are retired and drive for pleasure. We don't abuse the RZR. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

It's probably a broken roller cage in the front gearcase. It can be replaced and save you some money. It depends on what everything else inside the gearcase looks like but it has been known to fail.

like harley said its most likely a rollr cage issue for sure. granted the polaris part is expensive (around $200. something) but unless they charge out of this world labor there trying to rip you off.
here is the part no# and rough price= ASM-ROLL CAGE ([Incl. Armature Plate, Roll Cage, Rolls] )
3234466 1 $109.19 this is from ronnies.com and is the same part that is in my 08' 800

Usually damage in the front diff causes it to stay in AWD all the time.Read your manual and learn how to get into the diagnostic mode.Once you're in there you can test the AWD switch. Also check the oil level in the front diff.

Find where the wires go into the diff, unplug the plug-in and make sure there is 12 volts going to diff, key must be on and awd switch on, I've also seen the plug coroded, before you put it back together spray a little w-d 40 in it.
