Wanting to put some new mud tires on my 500 sportsman. I'm going to be putting it in mud and thats about it. I don't want to put too big of mud tires so i won't lose any power.

depends on what size tire you get to tell how big of a lug of tread you will have. i wouldnt go any bigger then 2 sizes over stock or you will be loosing power and even 2 sizes over could be alot and will require more use of low range to avoid doing harm to the clutches. imo.

ITP makes several excellent chices: 589, MudLite XTR and Terracross. SwampLite is also a good choice.

I stayed with the stock size and I am glad I did. The performance gain with the stock sized ITPs is GREAT!

I had 26" Carlisle Mud Wolf tires with stock wheels on my 500 HO ATP this winter. GREAT tires. The extra 1" diameter over stock 25" comes from deeper lugs, VERY deep. I bought 9" wide tires for the front and had to add 1 1/8" spacers, so you should stick with standard 8" width up front if you don't want to add spacers.

I found the best prices at Brutt Specialty Tires.
