Default 03 700twin stuck in reverse!!

I have an 03 sportsman 700, no problems with this ever. use 4wd so i dont kick my ramps out putting it in my truck. went to take it out and ride at a friends and it owuldnt come out of 4wd. I tried going in reverese, neutral, park i tried going backwards then forwards. nothing works! the light behind the switch that lights up (AWD) does go on and off as you switch it back and forth. the back light doesnt come on like it should when the ignition is turned on. but when i hit the brakes it does light up then if this has anything to do with it. anyone deal with this before? thank you for your help!

well since its actually suck in awd, it leeds me to think maybe the issue is the roller cage in the front end has broke which sometimes will do this but not always. its weird you would be getting eletrical issues using the brakes and making other lights as mentioned work. maybe check the wiring of these to rule out any issues of bad connections, corrsion or bare wires touching. just a thought.
