Rear Axle Problem
#11
I've had some I had to use a slide hammer on, I have a small chain that goes around the axle at the top by the diff, get the chain tight around it with a bolt to hold the chain together and slap it with the slide hammer, when you get it apart, use anti-sieze to put back together, will make it easier the next time. The correct pliers are called earless pliers, got mine from snap-on for $20.00.

I've had success removing one stubborn axle by wedging a large chisel between the CV cup and the gear case, I tapped the chisel in from the front of the quad removing any play between the axle and gearbox. Then while holding the chisel in place with one hand I hit the cv joint with a deadblow mallet from the back of the quad, once the axle "unseated" itself it pulled out easily. It took a couple of tries with different types of chisels/large screwdrivers to get it though. Or you can try to remove the axle on the opposite side of the quad then stick a long bar inside the differential and smack the end of the axle driving it out of the gear case (I believe this only works on the rear axles). For me one axle always seemed easier to remove then the other axle. It helped in both of these methods to have the axle suspended in a fairly straight line from the gear case, I just used bunji cords from the rack to hold the axle up. Hope this helps.
